The Ficus Elastica Robusta has deep, dark red leaves and a red plume at the top of the plant. Many people think this is the Ficus' flower, but it isn't. It's from this plume that the Ficus unfurls its new leaves.

The Ficus Robusta isn't a difficult houseplant to look after. It is sensitive to new surroundings, though. If the Ficus starts leaning to one side, don't move it all at once but turn it a little each day. Big changes can make the plant drop its leaves. A misting will do the Ficus' leaves good, and gives dust and any pests less of a chance.

Always try to keep the soil of this houseplant slightly moist. To begin with, give the plant small amounts of water several times; after a while you'll know roughly how much it needs.
