Product Description

The Tulip bulbs Flaming Beauty mix are a mix of tulips in fiery shades: bright reds, soft pinks and warm orange tones. The tulips grow to around 40 to 50 centimetres tall on sturdy stems, so they also last well in a vase.

The bulbs are size 11/12 and each produce one generous flower. The mix looks its best in a generous group, in the border, along the path or in a large pot on the patio. With 15 bulbs you fill a pot of about 40 centimetres, with 30 bulbs a spot in the border. With 60 or 120 bulbs you can plant a whole bed; allow 50 to 70 bulbs per square metre. You can also combine the mix with single-colour tulip bulbs in red or orange. You will find more greenery for outdoors among our outdoor plants.

When should you plant the Tulip bulbs Flaming Beauty mix?

The best time to plant the Tulip bulbs Flaming Beauty mix is from mid-October to the end of November, once the soil has cooled to below 10 °C. The bulbs will then still form roots before winter without sprouting too early. As long as the ground is not frozen, you can plant until December. The bulbs need the winter cold to flower in April and May, so do not plant them in spring.

When do the Tulip bulbs Flaming Beauty mix flower?

The Tulip bulbs Flaming Beauty mix flower in April and May. Because the mix consists of different tulips, flowering is often slightly staggered. Each flower stays beautiful for about two to three weeks. In a pot in a warm spot they often flower a week earlier, after a cold spring a little later. If you let the foliage die back after flowering, they will return next spring.

Care and tips Tulip bulbs Flaming Beauty mix

Plant the bulbs pointed end up, about 12 to 15 centimetres deep and 8 to 10 centimetres apart. Tulips like well-drained soil; if your garden stays wet, mix some sand into the soil. In a pot, give them a drainage layer of gravel or clay pebbles; among our outdoor pots and baskets you will find a suitable model. After flowering, only cut off the spent flower and leave the foliage until it turns yellow, so the bulb stores food for next year. A little bulb fertiliser in autumn or early spring is enough.

Water needs of the Tulip bulbs Flaming Beauty mix

In open ground the bulbs need little water. Only water after planting if the autumn is very dry. In a pot, water about once a week in spring as soon as the leaves appear. Never leave water standing in the saucer, because bulbs in wet soil will rot.

Light needs of the Tulip bulbs Flaming Beauty mix

Give them a sunny spot with at least six hours of sun a day. In full sun the stems stay strong and the red, pink and orange shades look their best. In partial shade they flower too, but with slightly longer stems and less abundantly.

Are the Tulip bulbs Flaming Beauty mix toxic?

The Tulip bulbs Flaming Beauty mix are mildly toxic if ingested, especially the bulb itself. Keep them out of reach of pets and young children. The sap can irritate sensitive skin, so wear garden gloves when planting.

How will my Tulip bulbs Flaming Beauty mix be shipped?

Your bulbs are carefully packed and shipped. That way they arrive safely and fresh from the grower.
