Product Description

The Tulip bulbs Triumph White are bulbs of a Triumph tulip with pure white, oval cups on sturdy, straight stems. They grow to about 45 centimetres tall. Triumph tulips are known for their strong build: they stay neatly upright in wind and rain and also last well in the vase.

The bulbs are size 11/12 and each produce one full flower. Plant them in the border, along the path or in a pot by the front door, where the white stands out even at dusk. With 15 bulbs you fill a pot of about 40 centimetres, with 30 bulbs a good-sized group in the border. With 60 or 120 bulbs you create a whole bed or a white edge along the path; allow 50 to 70 bulbs per square metre. Combine them with other tulip bulbs that flower at the same time, such as purple or red Triumph tulips for a clear contrast. You will find more greenery for outdoors among our outdoor plants.

When should you plant the Tulip bulbs Triumph White?

The best time to plant the Tulip bulbs Triumph White is from mid-October to the end of November, as soon as the soil has cooled to below 10 °C. In that cool soil the bulbs form roots without coming up yet. If it is not freezing yet, you can still plant in December. Without winter cold tulips do not flower well, so do not plant them in spring.

When do the Tulip bulbs Triumph White flower?

The Tulip bulbs Triumph White flower in March and April; after a cool spring a little later. Each flower stays beautiful in the garden for two to three weeks. For the vase, cut them in bud, when the white is just showing; they will then last about a week. In a pot in a warm spot they flower earlier than in open ground. If you let the foliage die back after flowering, they will return next spring.

Care and tips Tulip bulbs Triumph White

Plant the bulbs pointed end up, about 12 to 15 centimetres deep and 8 to 10 centimetres apart. They grow best in airy, well-drained soil; loosen heavy or wet soil with some sand or compost. In a pot, make sure there is a hole in the bottom and a layer of gravel or clay pebbles; among our outdoor pots and baskets you will find a suitable pot. After flowering, cut off the seed pod but leave the foliage until it turns yellow, so the bulb can build up strength. A handful of bulb fertiliser in early spring is enough.

Water needs of the Tulip bulbs Triumph White

In the garden the bulbs rarely need extra water; only in a very dry autumn should you give them a good watering after planting. In a pot, water about once a week in spring when the leaves appear and keep the soil lightly moist. Make sure excess water can drain away, because the bulbs rot in wet soil.

Light needs of the Tulip bulbs Triumph White

Choose a spot in the sun, with at least six hours of direct light a day. The stems then stay sturdy and the flowers open nicely. They also grow in partial shade, but the stems stretch more and they flower less abundantly.

Are the Tulip bulbs Triumph White toxic?

The Tulip bulbs Triumph White are mildly toxic if ingested, especially the bulb itself. Keep them out of reach of pets and young children. Wear garden gloves when planting, because the sap can irritate sensitive skin.

How will my Tulip bulbs Triumph White be shipped?

Your bulbs are carefully packed and shipped. That way they arrive safely and fresh from the grower.
