Product Description
The Tulip bulbs Triumph mix bring a multicoloured palette to the garden, from soft pastel shades to deep, fiery colours. They are Triumph tulips: classic tulips with upright, cup-shaped flowers on sturdy stems of about 45 centimetres. This group is known for its strength, so the flowers stay neatly upright even in changeable spring weather.
These packs contain bulbs of size 11/12, the trusted standard size that gives you a full tulip from every bulb. This makes it easy to plant plenty of colour, with a quantity for every spot. With 15 bulbs you fill a roomy pot or a balcony box, with 30 bulbs a colourful group in the border. With 60 bulbs you create a strip along the path and with 120 bulbs a bed of about two square metres; allow 50 to 70 bulbs per square metre. Among the bright colours, plain tulip bulbs in white or near-black purple make a lovely calm accent. You will find more greenery for outdoors among our outdoor plants.
When should you plant the Tulip bulbs Triumph mix?
For the Tulip bulbs Triumph mix, the planting season starts in mid-October and runs until the end of November. Wait until the soil has cooled to below 10 °C; the bulbs then root well without any leaf tips appearing above ground. If it is not yet freezing, you can still get going in December. A cold winter period is essential for tulips, so spring planting does not work.
When do the Tulip bulbs Triumph mix flower?
The Tulip bulbs Triumph mix flower in spring, usually in April and after a mild winter sometimes as early as late March. Each flower stays beautiful for about two to three weeks; in a vase they last around a week. In a warm, sheltered spot or in a pot on the patio they open earlier than in a cool border. Let the foliage die back calmly after flowering and they can return the following year.
Care and tips Tulip bulbs Triumph mix
Plant the bulbs 12 to 15 centimetres deep and space them 8 to 10 centimetres apart. Tulips cannot stand wet feet, so choose free-draining soil or improve clay with sand and compost. Choose a pot with a drainage hole and put a layer of gravel at the bottom; among our outdoor pots and baskets you will find sturdy models for outdoors. After flowering, remove the seed pods so the energy goes to the bulb, and only cut back the foliage once it is yellow. Feed in early spring with a little bulb fertiliser.
Water needs of the Tulip bulbs Triumph mix
As long as they are in open ground, rain is usually enough for the bulbs. If it stays dry for a long time after planting, give them one good watering. In a pot or container, pay more attention from the moment they sprout: feel the soil weekly and water when it is dry. Standing water in the pot or saucer makes the bulbs rot.
Light needs of the Tulip bulbs Triumph mix
Place them in a sunny spot with at least six hours of sun a day. There the stems grow straight and strong and the flowers show their colours to the full. They tolerate light partial shade but flower somewhat less abundantly there.
Are the Tulip bulbs Triumph mix toxic?
The Tulip bulbs Triumph mix are mildly toxic if ingested; the bulb contains most of the toxic substances. Plant and store them out of reach of pets and young children. The sap can irritate sensitive skin, so gloves are recommended.
How will my Tulip bulbs Triumph mix be shipped?
Your bulbs are carefully packed and shipped. That way they arrive safely and fresh from the grower.
