Product Description

The Daffodil bulbs Triandrus Thalia are bulbs of a white angel's tears daffodil. Each stem carries two to three graceful, slightly nodding flowers with gently swept-back petals around a short cup. The plants grow to about 35 centimetres on long, sturdy stems. Thalia is an old, proven variety that naturalises easily and gives more flowers year after year.

The bulbs are size 10/12. Because every bulb carries several flowers, even a small group gives a rich display, in the border, under trees, in the grass or in a pot. With 15 bulbs you fill a pot of about 35 centimetres, with 30 bulbs a spot under a shrub or in the border. With 60 or 120 bulbs you create a white edge along the lawn or under trees; allow 30 to 50 bulbs per square metre. Combine them with other white or soft yellow daffodil bulbs for a calm, light look. You will find more greenery for outdoors among our outdoor plants.

When should you plant the Daffodil bulbs Triandrus Thalia?

Mid-October to the end of November is the best period to plant the Daffodil bulbs Triandrus Thalia. The soil is then colder than 10 °C and the bulbs still have time to root before winter. If you are later, feel free to plant in December, as long as the ground is not frozen. Spring planting does not work: the bulbs first need a winter of cold.

When do the Daffodil bulbs Triandrus Thalia flower?

The Daffodil bulbs Triandrus Thalia flower in April and May. Because the buds on a stem open one after another, each stem flowers for a good two weeks. In a pot close to the house you will see the first flowers earlier, after a cold spring a little later. As cut flowers they look lovely in a small vase; keep them separate at first, because the sap makes other flowers wilt sooner. In a good spot they naturalise and the groups grow larger every year.

Care and tips Daffodil bulbs Triandrus Thalia

Plant the bulbs 12 to 15 centimetres deep, about three times the height of the bulb, with 8 to 10 centimetres between them. They grow well in humus-rich garden soil that stays moist in spring but is not waterlogged in winter. A pot needs a drainage layer at the bottom; among our outdoor pots and baskets you will find a pot with a drainage hole. After flowering, let the foliage die back completely before removing it or mowing the grass. Feeding is usually unnecessary; on poor soil give a little bulb fertiliser in March.

Water needs of the Daffodil bulbs Triandrus Thalia

In open ground extra water is rarely needed. Under trees the spring can be dry, because the tree roots take up a lot of moisture; in that case water occasionally during growth. In a pot, water as soon as the top few centimetres feel dry. Never leave the pot standing in a layer of water.

Light needs of the Daffodil bulbs Triandrus Thalia

The Daffodil bulbs Triandrus Thalia feel most at home in partial shade or partial sun, for example at the edge of a border or under deciduous trees. A few hours of sun a day is enough. In fierce midday sun the white flowers fade sooner.

Are the Daffodil bulbs Triandrus Thalia toxic?

The Daffodil bulbs Triandrus Thalia are toxic if ingested, especially the bulb itself. So plant them where pets and young children cannot reach them. Use garden gloves, because the sap can irritate the skin.

How will my Daffodil bulbs Triandrus Thalia be shipped?

Your bulbs are carefully packed and shipped. That way they arrive safely and fresh from the grower.
